Hey, It’s Me Sara

My journey into design started at Parsons School of Design, where I graduated with a BFA in Integrated Design. My studies landed me a job as a graphic designer in the world of advertising. However, I quickly realized that my passion was not in the digital world, and I strived to have a career where I designed and built physical worlds of whimsy. What was once a hobby became my career, and I launched my own practice as a Set Designer and Prop Stylist, working with clients like Refinery29, Instagram and The New York Times.

After years of photoshoots and video productions, I grew tired of the temporary worlds that I was creating, only for them to be torn down in the same day. Eager to design something long lasting, I decided to leave behind what I had worked endlessly to build up, in pursuit of a more fulfilling career. Interior Design was my natural next step once I had made this realization, and I enrolled in NYSID’s MFA program in order to become the best designer that I could be. I did not want to take any shortcuts into this field, and I have been enjoying this learning experience more than anything, which has included a few part time jobs in the industry.

Today, as my studies are coming to an end, I am looking for my next job at a design firm where I’ll be both challenged and embraced.
